H Μονάδα Τεκμηριωμένης Ιατρικής & Κλινικής Έρευνας υλοποιεί ένα εκτεταμένο πρόγραμμα σύνθεσης ερευνητικών δεδομένων σε συνεργασία με διάφορους ακαδημαϊκούς φορείς. Κύριοι στόχοι του προγράμματος είναι:
- Η διατύπωση σημαντικών ερωτημάτων με κλινική σημασία τόσο για τους ασθενείς όσο και για τους επαγγελματίες υγείας.
- Η κριτική αξιολόγηση και συστηματική σύνθεση της ιατρικής βιβλιογραφίας για συχνές ιατρικές παρεμβάσεις και διαγνωστικές εξετάσεις.
- Η αναγνώριση των σημείων αβεβαιότητας στην παροχή φροντίδας υγείας.
- Ο περιορισμός της άσκοπης έρευνας.
- Η ανάπτυξη επιστημονικά τεκμηριωμένων κατευθυντήριων οδηγιών προσαρμοσμένων στις αρχές και τις αξίες κάθε μεμονωμένου ασθενή.
